The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette will arrive in Australia late this year and early next year initially in extremely limited numbers.
Dealers for the newly-created General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) brand – most of whom are former Holden outlets – have been told they will only receive four cars each in their initial allocation.
More cars will follow in 2022 once next year's right-hand-drive production run gets underway.
Sales of full-size US pick-ups continue to increase in Australia and show few signs of stopping, official figures reveal.
According to national sales data released this week by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), Ram shifted 305 examples of its 1500 pick-up family in February 2021 – comprising 196 Express models, 100 Laramies and 9 Warlocks – while General Motors Specialty Vehicles sold 77 units of the similarly-sized Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

The Chevrolet Corvette will be fully-electric by 2035, dropping the petrol V8 engine which has powered the sports car since 1955.
The revelation comes as parent company General Motors announced overnight its entire passenger car fleet would be battery-powered by the mid-2030s.
While GM's all-electric push will exclude 'medium-' and 'heavy-duty' models within the Chevrolet and GMC pick-up range, it's understood the announcement includes future generations of the Corvette sports car.

Marc Ebolo has been announced as the new Managing Director of General Motors Australia and New Zealand.
With two decades at the company, Mr Ebolo has experience in sales, strategy, and product planning within the region.
The appointment expands on his current position as MD of Holden New Zealand. The new role will see Mr Ebolo leading Holden Aftersales operations in both countries, as well as the recently-announced GM Speciality Vehicles (GMSV).
US car giant General Motors will retain a presence in Australia with a range of specialist vehicles including the Chevrolet Silverado pick-up and Corvette sports-car from the US, Holden has confirmed today.
The new General Motors Specialty Vehicles operation will be established by the end of this year, as the Holden brand is retired.
