Buick Avista the new Holden Monaro? Possibly, but don't hold your breath

When the covers came off the stunning Buick Avista coupe concept at this week’s 2016 Detroit motor show, many Australians understandably started asking — could this preview a potential new ‘Holden Monaro’? It’s understandable why the idea is a tantalising one. If General Motors was to green-light production, and stick more or less to the design led by Buick’s Bryan Nesbitt, it would have a stunning global counterpoint to its platform-mate, the Chevrolet Camaro.

Chevrolet Bolt EV will tackle US before anywhere else

The all-new Chevrolet Bolt EV is claimed by General Motors as a game changer – a crossover-style electric car with about 320 kilometres of battery range for US$30,000. 2016 Honda Ridgeline unibody ute debuts in Detroit

The second-generation Honda Ridgeline ute has made its debut at the 2016 Detroit auto show sporting a much more conservative and traditional design than the original. As with the original Ridgeline, the new model eschews the body-on-frame construction of its mid-size rivals in the States, using a unibody platform that seems to be shared largely with the latest-generation Pilot SUV.

2016 Audi A4 Allroad Quattro debuts, coming to Australia third quarter

The new-generation Audi A4 Allroad Quattro has been unveiled at the 2016 Detroit auto show. Compared to the regular A4 wagon, the Allroad Quattro has an extra 34mm of ground clearance thanks to suspension that sits 23mm higher and larger diameter wheels. Further visual differentiation comes courtesy of wheel arch and sill extensions, new bumpers, more aggressive air intakes, silver painted under body protection and rear diffuser, vertical chrome slats for the grille, and taller roof rails.

Hyundai Santa Cruz lifestyle ute confirmed, says US boss

No official announcement has been made yet, but it appears clear that a production version of the Hyundai Santa Cruz lifestyle utility is on its way. CarAdvice spent some time at the 2016 Detroit auto show with Hyundai Motor America president and chief executive Dave Zuchowski, who didn’t mince words about the potential for the Tucson-based utility vehicle to hit showrooms.
