Audi SUV expansion : TT, Q6 and Q8 sporty derivatives in planning

Audi is preparing to extend its SUV line-up with several “sporty” and “exclusive” models such as a TT SUV, and Q6 and Q8 derivatives. Speaking at the Detroit motor show, Audi board member for technical development Ulrich Hackenberg began by explaining that a naming rights issue is central to the reason the company is calling its compact model the Q1 in two years’ time, and is now looking into an SUV version of the TT instead of a potential Q4.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit to compete with German luxury SUVs

Fiat Chrysler Australia (FCA) has confirmed it will introduce a more luxurious version of its successful Jeep Grand Cherokee, called the Summit Platinum. The new variant is expected to provide a high-value alternative to the luxury European offerings and will replace the current Grand Cherokee Summit, which is currently priced at $77,000 (plus on-road costs).

Fiat convertible delayed after switch from Alfa Romeo

The switch from Alfa Romeo to the Fiat or Abarth brand for the upcoming convertible built by Mazda has meant production delays of up to four months. The Fiat or Abarth-badged MX-5 equivalent was originally slated to be released as an Alfa Romeo this year but the decision was taken last minute to switch brands in order to keep the premium feel of the Alfa product.
