Land Rover Discovery Sport : British brand considering sporty Audi SQ5 rival

Land Rover is considering a more performance-oriented version of the new Discovery Sport to rival the likes of the Audi SQ5. Land Rover director of programs Murray Dietsch admitted that the mid-sized Discovery Sport (pictured) was not an “outwardly sporty vehicle”, but responded “I’d like to one” when asked about the possibility of a more powerful variant. “We’ll see how it goes with the market,” Dietsch told Australian journalists in Paris.

Kia Pro_cee’d GT could soon gain dual-clutch option

The Kia Pro_cee'd GT may soon become more desirable to considerably more car shoppers, as the brand has confirmed plans to add a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Jurgen Grimm, head of powertrain development for Hyundai Motor Europe (encompassing both Hyundai and Kia brands), told CarAdvice at the 2014 Paris motor show that a pair of dual-clutch transmissions (DCTs) would be rolled out in 2015, and indicated that the Pro_cee’d GT is one of the cars that could receive a new self-shifting 'box.

Jeep SRT range may grow to include smaller vehicles

There’s potential for smaller Jeep models to get the sporty SRT treatment, according to the brand’s president and CEO, Mike Manley. Speaking with CarAdvice at the 2014 Paris motor show, Manley indicated there is room for more SRT variants in model lines such as the Cherokee and Renegade, as buyers of smaller SUVs are also likely to want the go-fast treatment. When asked if he sees potential for such a broadening of its performance branded models, Manley was clear.

Incoming Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne says he will look at relaxing current production restrictions if demand warrants it, but insists that the company must remain highly exclusive and difficult to get your hands on no matter the new number. Furthermore, any idea that it may look to follow Lamborghini — code for toying with things such as SUVs — is “gibberish”, he said.

Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Special Edition coming to Australia

The sporty Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary special edition will launch in Australia in the first quarter of 2015. CarAdvice understands it’ll hit our shores in February or possibly March though we’re yet to receive official confirmation. The 208 has been overhauled by Peugeot Sport, drawing inspiration from the iconic hot-hatch, the 205 GTi both inside and out.
