2017 HSV GTS: final 430kW LSA-powered monster to be built next month

It's official! The last-ever Gen-F2-based HSV GTS will roll out of Holden Special Vehicles's Victorian workshop come late April, the performance car manufacturer has confirmed. Speaking to CarAdvice, HSV marketing general manager Damon Paull said, “We have approximately just 90 more GTSs to build, with the last scheduled to roll off the production line late next month.”

2018 Kia Stinger spied in Sydney

The 2018 Kia Stinger has been spied undisguised in Sydney this week, giving us a closer look at the upcoming Korean liftback. Compared to the vehicles shown at the Detroit motor show and more recently at the Australian Open tennis tournament, which were all top-spec GT models, this red Stinger appears to be a lower-spec variant - likely the four-cylinder entry-level model - and is also right-hand drive.

Volkswagen Amarok V6 demand sees buyers pay over the odds

A buyer of a Volkswagen Amarok V6 paid 107 per cent of the car’s retail price at auction, and it was a company demonstrator with some kays on the clock. The car in question was a Volkswagen Amarok V6 Ultimate, which sold for $73,250 – a solid premium over the $68,990 list price of the new car. Volkswagen Australia commercial vehicles director Carlos Santos said the new V6 ute has brought unprecedented interest.

No hybrid Jeep Compass or seven-seater anytime soon

At this week's launch of the 2017 Jeep Compass in the United States, it was made clear to Australian journalists that Jeep won't be releasing a hybrid - or alternative powertrain - version of its small SUV anytime soon. “Could we do it in the future? Sure," Jim Lyijynen, Chief Engineer for Jeep Compass told the assembled Australian media. "Right now though, the focus has been to make this global platform successful.”
