The press release is only a few sentences long, but Porsche has revealed it will show a new model for the first time at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, shown from January 10 to 23.

It has chosen the US auto show as North America is an extremely important market for Porsche. Both Cayenne and Panamera models have excelled in the US, and Porsche is hoping this new model will do the same.

Calling it an "important show debut" one can't help but wonder what it will be. Yet another 911 derivative, or a production version of the 918 Spyder perhaps?
