Porsche Australia appoints Daniel Schmollinger to CEO and Managing Director roles
Mr Schmollinger will head up local operations from 1 September 2021.
Porsche Australia has appointed Daniel Schmollinger to the position of CEO and Managing Director.
Mr Schmollinger – who has worked for the Volkswagen sports car subsidiary since 2004, and currently serves as Porsche’s Vice President of Marketing in China – will relocate to Australia in late August, before officially taking the reins on 1 September 2021.
Porsche Vice President of Overseas and Emerging Markets, Matthias Becker, said: “Daniel Schmollinger not only knows the specifics of overseas markets very well, he also brings a close relationship to the retail organisation and broad marketing knowledge thanks to his experience in China.”
Outgoing CEO Sam Curtis has held the position since February 2014. Under his leadership Porsche sales in Australia grew steadily, growing from 1062 vehicles reported as sold from January to May 2014, according to VFACTS industry data, to 2277 vehicles over the same period in 2021.
This growth was bolstered by the introduction of the Macan small SUV and Taycan electric sedan (shown below) to the local market under his tenure.
