2021 Hyundai i30 Sedan price and specs: N Line Special Edition added with lower price, less kit
Hyundai's warm turbo sedan gets cheaper, with a new, auto-only Special Edition model deleting standard features in exchange for a lower starting price.
- 2021 Hyundai i30 Sedan pricing and specification
- N Line Special Edition added as cheaper turbo option
- $3000 price cut due to no LED lights, climate control, blind-spot monitoring
- Priced from $29,690 before on-road costs, with a seven-speed auto only
Warm sedan buyers on a budget now have a new option to consider, with the launch of the 2021 Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line Special Edition.
Quietly added to the Australian range earlier in June, the i30 Sedan N Line Special Edition sees a number of luxury features stripped out from Hyundai’s punchy small sedan, in exchange for a lower starting price: $29,690 before on-road costs.
While that figure is only $1000 less than an entry-level N Line sedan with a six-speed manual, the Special Edition bundles the optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in as standard – making it $3000 cheaper than an equivalent ‘regular’ i30 Sedan N Line.
Above and below: The regular Hyundai i30 N Line.
Accounting for the price cut is the deletion of a number of features, including LED headlights (instead using halogens), dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, folding side mirrors, auto high-beam, and rain-sensing wipers.
Also omitted are blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert – both typically capable of detecting and braking for obstacles – plus side exit warning, and an electric tailgate.
However, features shared with both the entry-level Active and higher-spec N Line include an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4.2-inch driver instrument display, leather seats, steering wheel and gear selector, six-speaker sound system, and a wide active safety suite.
The Special Edition also benefits from the N Line’s unique exterior and interior sports styling.
The regular N Line’s 150kW/265Nm 1.6-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine is carried over, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive as standard.
The 2021 Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line Special Edition is on sale now, as part of the wider i30 Sedan range. Prices across the range recently rose by $400.
