Around the tracks: Stressful footage of a Tesla in full self-driving mode

Plus, a police car doing donuts, Porsche teams up with Keanu Reeves and an epic off-road track in Utah.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the CarAdvice team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

1. This very suss video of a police BMW doing donuts in the UK

Sadly, all is not as it seems in this viral Twitter video of a police car in the United Kingdom doing donuts while one of the officers in the front seat moons the general public.

While it makes for entertaining viewing, it's since become apparent the video was, sadly, not a genuine display of police silliness but a staged stunt for a TV show.

Such was the reaction to the video that the local council of Luton (where the clip was filmed) was forced to respond.

"We've seen the video circulating on social media of a police car doing donuts outside the Town Hall," the council said in a social media post.

"This was production company filming a TV show who had permission to use the area as a set. Don't worry, it wasn't our friends at Bedfordshire Police showing off."

2. Bill and Ted reunite for a Porsche Taycan adventure

Fans of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure can see the totally triumphant duo reunite in a new video to promote the all-electric Porsche Taycan.

Actors Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter star in the clip about a cross-California road trip, which aims to showcase how far the Taycan can travel on a single charge.

There's something undeniably delightful about watching the two co-stars react to the Porsche's extra-terrestrial acceleration abilities.

Stay tuned for the John Wick version.

3. These incredible vintage car ads

We really, really miss the era of classic car ads – when the taglines were sassy, the creative was simple but impactful and the jokes were... questionable at best.

Scroll through the ads featured in the Instagram post below for a healthy hit of nostalgia and humour. The Citroen, Volkswagen and Porsche ones are particular standouts.

4. This video of a Ford F-250 traversing Hell's Gate

Hell's Gate in Moab, Utah, is something of a hot-spot for four-wheel-drive devotees.

Many an off-roading video has been filmed amongst the barren, inhospitable rock formations, which are regarded by many to be the truest test of 4WD capabilities.

The latest car to complete the climb is a 2015 Ford F-250, which tackles the tricky terrain with impressive confidence in a new YouTube video.

One particular highlight comes when the pick-up truck is straddling a small ravine, seemingly weight-bearing on the outside edges of its front wheels alone.

Even better is this secondary footage captured from above which show's just how steep and treacherous this natural landmark really is...

5. This disturbing footage of a Tesla driving on Autopilot

Although Tesla deserves credit for developing some impressive driver assistance features, it seems the future of effective autonomous driving could be further away than we thought.

That's, at least, according to new footage of two men in California driving a Tesla with the latest version of the company's Full Self-Driving mode engaged.

While the car is capable of making turns and accelerating and braking as required, there are more than a few instances where it misjudges the situation entirely, making for some pretty terrifying close calls.
