2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo spied undisguised – UPDATE
High-riding wagon spotted sans camouflage, revealing window line and wheel design.
UPDATE: New images have emerged, showing the Taycan Cross Turismo's off-road-look front end and sedan-derived interior.
Our original story continues below.
The 2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo has been spied undisguised, ahead of its expected reveal in the coming months.
The black example spotted in the US by Instagram user @noobtographer – and subsequently reposted on Spanish forum Cochespias – provides a better glimpse at the production-spec Taycan Cross Turismo, the Georgia-registered prototype lacking the vinyl wrap camouflage over the D-pillar, tail-lights, and wheel arches worn by previous development cars spotted testing with Porsche engineers.
The shape of the D-pillar largely matches that of the Mission E Cross Turismo concept unveiled in 2018, while matte grey wheel-arch cladding and rugged side skirts adorn the lower sides of the body.
The images also reveal what appears to be the production Cross Turismo's wheel design, which features five spokes and a complex, 'vented' design.
Specific mechanical details of the Cross Turismo have yet to be confirmed, however it's likely it will employ the three all-wheel-drive, all-electric powertrains available with the sedan, with the recently-revealed rear-wheel-drive variant unlikely to fit with the high-riding model's 'off-road' image.
The 2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is expected to make its full debut in the coming months, given the lack of camouflage on this prototype.
While Australian arrival timing has yet to be officially confirmed, should the long-roof model's reveal be imminent, a local launch alongside the rear-drive sedan seems probable, the latter understood to be on track to arrive late in 2021 or early in 2022.
