Tesla Model S convertible unveiled by Ares Design
Luxury Italian coachbuilder Ares Design has unveiled a one-off Tesla Model S two-door convertible, with more examples expected roll out of the studio if demand is high.
According to the Modena-based atelier, the custom electric vehicle was commissioned privately several years ago for an undisclosed sum.
Ares teased the roadster back in 2018 with a series of sketches, however there was little indication at the time these were anything more than concept renders.
The Tesla's complex transformation was achieved by cutting away the B-pillars, roof, and rear bodywork, while structural integrity was maintained with chassis reinforcements under the cockpit and within the side members
It is unclear how this extra weight will affect the performance of the already-heavy vehicle, however the unmodified Model S Performance can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds.
Bespoke doors and a new bonnet were required to complete the elongated roadster layout, while a carbon-fibre aero kit was also added by the engineering team for aesthetics.
On the inside, custom rear seats have been added, while the dashboard, steering wheel, and centre console fittings are finished in white and orange leather.
Ares confirmed it will build more examples if demand is high, however has not disclosed a price point for potential customers.
