German tuner Abt Sportsline has unveiled its high-performance take on the new-generation 2021 Audi S3 hot hatch, two months after the Audi model's sales launch in Europe.
Abt's changes are concentrated under the bonnet, where the S3's 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine has been retuned to produce 272kW of power and 450Nm of torque, up from the standard car's 228kW/400Nm outputs – the new figures on par with 'hyper' hatches of a few years ago, namely the 270kW, pre-facelift Audi RS 3 Sportback and Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG.
While performance figures for the Abt-fettled S3 have yet to be confirmed, it's likely the tuned hatch will improve by around half a second over the 4.8-second 0-100km/h sprint time claimed by the standard S3, with real-world tests in less-than-ideal conditions conducted by Abt yielding figures as low as 4.26 seconds.
Other upgrades over 'regular' S3 models are limited to a trio of new 19- and 20-inch wheel designs, plus an Abt-branded engine start button.
A stainless-steel sports exhaust will be offered from the northern spring of 2021, featuring four 102mm-diameter tailpipes finished in matte black.
The 2021 Audi S3 will arrive in Australia in standard form in the second half of 2021.
Given Abt Sportsline's official Australian importer, Scuderia Autoart, currently offers upgrades for the outgoing, third-generation S3 (along with a number of other retailers), it's likely the Abt tuning package for the new model will also make its way Down Under.
