2021 Lotus Lambda SUV imagined

A brand-new 2021 Lotus Lambda SUV could be here before the end of the year.

Earlier this month rumours indicated the British company – best known for producing lightweight sports cars – was preparing to unveil the Lambda after patent images surfaced online.

These renders from Spanish publication motor.es via Kolesa provide a better glimpse of what we can expect with the Lotus Lambda.

The Lambda is thought to share its underpinnings with the Volvo XC40 and Lynk & Co 01. Both Volvo and Lynk & Co are owned by Chinese manufacturer Geely, as is Lotus.

In June 2020, Lotus suggested it would skip hybrid powertrains and move straight to all-electric propulsion.

With the exception of the Evija hypercar – which is still in development – the Lambda will likely be the first Lotus to utilise an electric powertrain.

It's thought the SUV may provide a much-needed source of revenue for Lotus, allowing it to develop its next-generation of sports cars and helping to secure the company's future.
