- 2021 Isuzu MU-X Onyx Edition brings added value
- Updated infotainment system, auto headlights
- Unique styling features with darker highlights
- Priced from $56,990 drive-away
The 2021 Isuzu MU-X Onyx Edition has been announced, delivering new tech, greater value, and enhanced style as the current MU-X range, which debuted in 2013, enters its run-out phase.
Based on the range-topping LS-T, Isuzu's Onyx Edition gains a 6.8-inch infotainment system (in place of the regular LS-T's 8.0-inch unit) with satellite navigation, and newly added features like digital radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
Automatic LED headlights are also standard for the Onyx Edition in another first for the MU-X range.
As the name suggests, the special MU-X gets a more menacing look, with a chin spoiler at the front, together with shadow chrome and gloss black highlights across the SUV.
Buyers get a choice of either Obsidian Grey Mica or Silky White, with an initial allocation currently limited to 420 examples.
The Onyx Edition gains the LS-T's interior, with quilted leather accented interior, electric driver's seat, and keyless entry and start. A roof-mounted DVD player, eight speaker audio system, air conditioning vents for all three rows of seats, three USB chargers, and three 12V chargers complete the cabin.
As with outgoing D-Max on which it's based, the MU-X is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder engine putting out 130kW/430Nm, mated to a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission with low-range four-wheel drive.
While the MU-X LS-T costs $56,400 before on-road costs, the 2021 Isuzu MU-X Onyx Edition is priced from $56,990 drive-away, and comes with the company's six-year/150,000km warranty. The Onyx Edition is a run-out deal of sorts, with the next-generation MU-X expected to arrive in 2021.
