The 2021 Arteon gets revised styling front and rear, with the new option of an illuminated grille. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Volkswagen’s new MIB3 infotainment system and an 8.0-inch touchscreen all feature amid a redesigned dash and centre console.
Travel Assist adaptive cruise control comes equipped, able to automatically adjust speed to match traffic between zero and 210km/h.
Power in the new R variant comes by way of a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 235kW. A plug-in hybrid engine option is also offered – though unlikely to be offered in Australia – which produces 160kW.
Base trim Arteon gets a 200kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. Volkswagen Australia has told CarAdvice that any and all variants it brings here will feature a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
However, exactly which versions of the Arteon are coming to Australia is still unclear.
Volkswagen Australia confirmed earlier this month that it will bring the Arteon coupe to local showrooms in early 2021, but further details on the complete model line-up have yet to be announced.
“Arteon will return early next year in familiar form,” a Volkswagen Australia spokesperson told CarAdvice. “We’re open to other variants depending on availability."
