Around the tracks: A footballer’s rare Ferrari, a Mustang GT drifts into a creek and a free Batmobile movie

Plus, an incredibly detailed mini Kia Sorento and a funny reminder from NSW Police.

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the CarAdvice team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Ferrari Monza SP2

Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic plays for AC Milan, one of Europe's most successful teams, and is widely regarded as one of the sport's top strikers. Unsurprisingly, most estimates of his net worth can hover around the $200 million figure.

So, how does a multi-millionaire sportsman like to spend his hard-earned cash? On cars, of course. And his latest purchase is a real head-turner.

This week, Ibrahimovic was snapped cruising around Stockholm in his rare Ferrari Monza SP2, worth a cool 1.6 million euros, or AU$2.67 million.

The single-seat Monza SP1 and two-seat Monza SP2 were unveiled in 2018 as the first models in the company's new super-exclusive range of Icona limited-edition models "aimed at dedicated clients and collectors".

The SP2 is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine generating 603kW and 719Nm. Ferrari only made a total of 499 units of the SP1 and SP2 all up.

You may be familiar with another famous Monza SP2 owner: British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

2. This insanely detailed model of the new Kia Sorento

In this week's episode of cool things we never knew we needed: this 3D-printed model of the fourth-generation Kia Sorento.

Conceptualised and crafted by designer Lee Sang-won, the process of creating this model, right down to its tiny infotainment screen, was documented in a fascinating YouTube video.

We highly recommend you check it out below to see the intricacies of the process and possibly get some inspiration for your own at-home model project! (Those panel gaps though... - Stevo)

3. This tongue-in-cheek post from NSW Police

With coronavirus lockdowns easing nationwide and traffic returning, you may have noticed some people have forgotten how to drive with other cars on the road.

It seems New South Wales Police have noticed this too, hence the sassy post they shared on their Facebook page this week:

Touché, NSW Police. Touché.

4. This free documentary on the Batmobile

If you're a Batman fan, you'll no doubt have an affinity for the comic book hero's go-to ride, the Batmobile, in all of its various forms.

And while we wait for the next inevitable superhero blockbuster to surface in cinemas post-coronavirus, you can watch a documentary tracking the history of the menacing car from its comic book days through to its big-screen Dark Knight cameos.

Featuring interviews with Christian Bale, Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan, you can watch the entire movie for free on YouTube now – link below.

5. This Mustang GT drifting its way into a creek

There are two uses for the word "drift" – the first is in relation to cars and it's most commonly seen in either Fast & Furious movies or at your local shopping centre car park by listless teenagers. The second is 'drift' as in 'to drift down a river'.

This week, a teenager in Canada managed to combine the two by drifting his 2019 Ford Mustang GT coupe in the parking lot of a mall on a rainy day, before losing control and drifting the car all the way into a nearby creek.

Carscoops reported no one was hurt in the incident – except for the Mustang which was, understandably, a write-off. You can see a video of its post-drift demise below.
