MG Australia has won five international design awards for a sculpture displayed in its flagship Sydney store in Alexandria.

The sculpture, titled ‘Electric Meets Reality’ is described as an “immersive installation”, inspired by the brand’s first electric car – the ZS EV SUV – which is due in Australia later this year.

Using projection mapping – which projects video onto contoured real-world shapes to create a sense of three-dimensions – to represent electricity, and the sculpture piece as ‘reality’, the installation is designed to educate customers about the future of electric vehicles.

Electric Meets Reality won gold in the A’ Design Awards, platinum in the international Muse Creative Awards, and took gold in two categories of Europe’s Indigo Awards.

The installation also won silver in a third category of Europe’s Indigo Awards.
