Subaru XV, Forester hybrids sold out until May
Limited supply and big demand leads to waiting list for new Subaru hybrids.
Subaru Australia's new range of hybrid SUVs has hit the ground running, with their initial allocations of Forester and XV SUVs selling out until May 2020.
Subaru has received over 4000 registrations of interest for its new hybrid SUVs, which are now going out to customers and dealerships around Australia.
Both the Forester and XV hybrids use the same 'e-boxer' drivetrain, made up of a 110kW/196Nm 2.0 litre boxer engine, coupled with a 12.3kW, 66Nm electric motor within the gearbox. Electric power is stored in a 4.8 amp-hour battery that sits over the rear axle.
Sold out status equates to between 150 and 200 Forester and XV Hybrids already sold to the public, while Subaru balances the needs of dealer demonstrators and sales. Fleet sales have also been particularly strong, with over 500 hybrid Subarus already accounted for.
Supply of new hybrid models into Australia is currently set at between 150 and 200 units (for both Forester and XV) per month. While Subaru is fighting for more allocation, the company cannot confirm anything at this stage. Forecasting of incoming stock is only three months into the future, and Subaru doesn't foresee any problems.
Subaru Australia has had a particularly tough time getting its allocation of cars from Japan of late, with product problems and natural disasters both putting a dent in available supply. There are currently no implications from the growing coronavirus outbreak for Subaru's supply chain.
The Subaru hybrid SUV range starts at $35,580 for the XV Hybrid, and goes up to $45,990 for the Forester Hybrid S.
