2020 Honda Jazz teased
Next-generation hatch will stick to the spacious formula which sets it apart from the rest of its class.
The silhouette of the fourth-generation Honda Jazz has been revealed ahead of the car's full debut at the 2019 Tokyo motor show on October 23, local time.
This teaser, along with earlier spy photos, have confirmed the new Jazz will stick with the design formula that's served it well over three generations: tall body, low floor, short overhangs and small footprint.
As such, it will remain a true adherent to Soichiro Honda's philosophy of "man maximum, machine minimum". Given this, it's reasonable to expect the fourth-generation Jazz will have an updated version of its rear Magic Seats.
In Europe, the new Jazz will be sold exclusively with a hybrid drivetrain as part of the company's push to make all of its European sales electrified by 2025.
For other markets, the Jazz should still be available with non-hybrid powertrains.
It will be interesting to see whether the next-generation model will give a boost to the car's local sales. Until the end of September, Jazz sales are down 19.2 per cent year-on-year to 4478.
In the light car segment, the Jazz is placed sixth behind the Hyundai Accent (8970), Mazda 2 (7200), the about-to-be-replaced Toyota Yaris (7053), Suzuki Swift (5313) and Kia Rio (4928).
Aside from the Volkswagen Polo (4427) and the new-to-Australia MG3 (2853), every car in the segment is down this year.
