Ssangyong's new long-wheelbase Musso XLV has been priced for Australia, kicking off at $33,990 in base ELX manual guise.
That means the bed measures 1610mm long, 1570mm wide and 571mm deep, for 1262L of capacity.
Power comes from the same engine offered in the Musso and Rexton. It's a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel making 133kW at 4000rpm and 420Nm between 1600rpm and 2600rpm, mated to a six-speed manual in the base ELX model, or a six-speed automatic as you climb the range.
Standard kit is generous across the line-up, with autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a surround-view camera included on all models.
In the ELX, which kicks off at $33,990 drive-away with a manual and $35,990 drive-away with an automatic, you get a limited-slip differential, a leaf-sprung rear, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a full-sized spare wheel as standard. All models get disc brakes on both axles.
Payload is 1025kg thanks to those leaf springs.
Infotainment is handled by an 8.0-inch central touchscreen, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are reserved for the Ultimate and Ultimate Plus models. There's a four-speaker audio system, along with Bluetooth streaming for audio and phone. Keyless entry and start is standard, along with auto headlights and wipers.
Jumping to the Ultimate brings about a number of changes. You'll pay $39,990 drive-away for an automatic, and the rear leaf springs have been subbed for a multi-link setup, dropping payload to 800kg.
Compared to the ELX, you gain 18-inch alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring, daytime running lights, parking sensors front and rear, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a 7.0-inch display in the instrument binnacle.
The cabin gains a leather steering wheel and heated/ventilated pleather seats, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The audio system gains two more speakers, too.
Topping the range is the Ultimate Plus, which shares its multi-link suspension with the Ultimate. It's priced from $43,990 drive-away, and adds LED headlights, a surround-view camera, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and powered, leather seats to the standard equipment list.
The steering wheel is reach adjustable, which will make taller drivers happy. A set of 20-inch alloy wheels and a sunroof are both optional.
Eight exterior colours are available across the range: pearl white, white, silver, black, grey, red, blue and brown.
