Maserati has secured a limited allocation of the Levante Vulcano, which is on sale now for $184,990 before on-road costs.

Just 150 examples of the special-edition SUV will be produced globally, with seven headed Down Under.

The Vulcano is based on the GranSport specification, distinguished by its Grigio Lava matte paint finish along with the choice of Pieno Fiore leather in either red or black, both with contrasting stitching.

Further to that, the Vulcano features the Nerissimo Collection package with dark-themed appointments, including darkened tail-light clusters, black chrome for the front grille and logos, gloss black window surrounds, body-coloured door handles, and burnished exhaust tips.

There's also laminated privacy glass, and matte-finished 21-inch 'Helios' alloy wheels, sat in front of red-painted Brembo brake calipers.

Inside, there's heated and ventilated front sports seats with electric adjustment and memory, contrasting embroidered Maserati 'Trident' logo on the headrests, high-gloss carbon-fibre trim throughout the cabin including the sports steering wheel and paddle shifters, and a chromed aluminium badge on the centre console with 'One of 150'.

Rounding out the spec sheet is a Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system, soft-close doors, front and rear parking sensors, along with matrix LED adaptive headlights.

Under the bonnet is a 257kW/500Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, with maximum torque on tap between 1750 and 4750rpm. Maserati claims a 0-100 time of 6.0 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 251km/h.

The Levante Vulcano is on sale now, priced from $184,990 excluding statutory charges, dealer costs and delivery.
