Aston Martin Vantage Roadster coming later this year, no V12 confirmed… yet

Chief creative officer confirms the new drop-top sports car will debut before year's end, though couldn't confirm whether we'll see a V12 Vantage in the new generation.

Aston Martin is preparing to unveil a convertible version of the new-generation Vantage very soon, with the company's creative chief confirming the news this week.

Speaking at a media event in Melbourne, Victoria, Aston Martin's chief creative officer, Marek Reichman, said the Vantage Roadster is "all done".

"It's ready and waiting," he said, "we'll show it towards the end of this year."

"They're going through some of the final testing, [but] the car's all done."

Beyond the convertible, Reichman was unable to confirm whether additional variants will join the Vantage family – a V12 version, for example.

"That's too much," he laughed when asked about a new V12 Vantage, "but it would be a good idea".

Given his comments, the new Vantage Roadster will draw upon the coupe's 375kW/685Nm 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG, sending drive to the rear wheels exclusively via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
