2019 Kia Cerato GT pricing and specs – UPDATE
Kia's new Cerato range-topper has been priced, in both sedan and hatchback guise.
Kia has announced pricing for its new Cerato GT sedan and hatch on its Australian website, set to start at $31,990 drive-away.
UPDATE, 17/01/2019: This story has been updated with local imagery.
The new flagship model, powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, sits above the Sport Plus with 150kW and 265Nm, put to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Do those figures sound familiar? They should, because the Hyundai i30 N Line (the artist formerly known as SR) offers the exact same figures from the exact same engine.
As you'd expect of a top-spec car, there's just one option on the GT – metallic paint. As with the wider Cerato range, it gets autonomous emergency braking as standard, along with gear usually reserved for 'Safety Pack' cars like rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist.
Keyless entry is standard, while the cloth seats featuring in the rest of the range have been subbed for a set of leather-trimmed buckets. They're eight-way power adjustable, with two memory slots, while the steering wheel is a flat-bottomed, leather unit. Other unique touches include alloy sports pedals, silver door handles, soft-touch door trims and wireless phone charging.
The regular six-speaker audio system is replaced with an eight-speaker JBL setup, while the 8.0-inch central touchscreen is home to factory satellite navigation.
Metallic paint is a $520 option, but otherwise the car comes as-is. Stay tuned for our drive impressions when embargo lifts on January 21.
