All-new Bavarian sedan set to come in two flavours from launch, priced from $67,900.

BMW Australia has announced pricing and specification details for the new-generation 3 Series sedan, which will start from $67,900 before on-road costs when it arrives in dealers from March.

Just two variants will be available from launch, the familiar 320d and 330i (from $70,900), offering one diesel and one petrol option.

Standard equipment highlights from the base level include adaptive LED headlights with auto high-beam, LED fog-lights, the M Sport package, along with the Driving Assistant package which includes lane-departure warning, lane-change warning, autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and speed sign recognition.

Other goodies include an automated park assistant, BMW Live Cockpit Professional incorporating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch central touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charger, 18-inch alloys, and M Sport suspension.

Power in the base 320d comes from a 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel making 140kW at 4000rpm and 400Nm between 1750 and 2500rpm. BMW says the diesel 3er can dash to 100km/h in 6.8 seconds, while sipping just 4.5L/100km.

Stepping up to the 330i adds M Sport brakes, 19-inch alloys, Driving Assistant Professional – steering and lane control assist, speed limit assist, lane-keep assist, and front cross-traffic alert – a surround camera system with Remote 3D View, along with comfort access.

The 330i is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, developing 190kW from 5000 to 6500rpm and 400Nm between 1550 and 4400rpm. BMW claims 0-100 is dispatched in 5.8 seconds, with fuel consumption rated at 6.4L/100km.

Various option packages are available to further bolster the specification of your 3 Series. The first is the no-cost option Luxury Line, for those who prefer a more upmarket look to the athletic M Sport. Opting for the Luxury Line brings Vernasca leather upholstery, ash grey-brown wood trim, 'Sensatec' leatherette dashboard trim, different alloys, and sports front seats.

New for the 2019 3 Series is the M Sport Plus Package (320d: $2990, 330i: $2600), adding M Sport seatbelts with M tricolour weave, M rear spoiler, M Sport brakes (320d), 19-inch alloys (320d), and an M Sport Differential (330i).

The Visibility Package ($5070) brings metallic paint, BMW Laser headlights, a glass sunroof, and ambient lighting, while the Comfort Package (320d: $2600, 330i: $1820) adds lumbar support, an automatic bootlid, front seat heating, and comfort access (320d).

Finally, the Driver Assistance Package ($3120) is available for the 320d, and brings the 330i's Driving Assistant Professional pack, tyre pressure monitoring, and the Parking Assistant Plus with 360-degree cameras. There are further single-item cost options too.
