Ford Mustang Bullitt almost sold out in Australia
We were only getting 700 to start with, and they're all gone. Sorry wannabe Steve McQueens, better luck next time.
Keen to get your hands on a Mustang Bullitt? Best be quick, they're almost all gone in Australia.
The limited-edition throwback to Steve McQueen's legendary movie Mustang was today revealed for the Australian market in Melbourne, but very few of the 700 examples offered locally are still available.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in a Bullitt to talk to their dealers as quickly as possible, because we’re very close to being out of stock,” said Damion Smy, Ford Australia communications manager.
Although local supply was capped, there was no explicit ceiling on global production announced at launch.
Power comes from the same 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine offered in the GT, breathed on to deliver 345kW and 556Nm. That's up a whole 6kW over the regular Mustang GT, for what it's worth.
The extra power has been liberated by a new induction and intake manifold with 87mm throttle bodies, and electronics nicked from the Shelby GT350.
A six-speed manual is the only option – as if Steve McQueen would've driven an automatic – complete with auto rev-matching for a bit of extra noise through the active exhaust.
There's also red-painted brake calipers, unique badging, MagneRide adaptive dampers, a cue-ball gear knob, contrast stitching inside and, obviously, Highland Green exterior paint to mimic that of McQueen's original Mustang.
Pricing started at $73,688 before on-road costs, but you'd best get in fast.
