2017 Ford Ecosport recalled

Faulty welds could see the front wheel assembly to contact the wheel arches and loss of drive.

Ford Australia has issued a recall for "certain" 2017 Ecosport models over concerns a faulty front lower control arm could cause steering impairment and/or loss of power.

The Blue Oval reports that improper welds are to blame for the issue, which could cause the front wheel assembly to hit the wheelhouse and the fenders.

Additionally, the company says the condition could cause the front wheels to lock up, affecting steering control and a "loss of forward movement".

Affected Ecosports were manufactured from 3 May 2017 through 10 June 2017 – the VIN list for these vehicles can be viewed here. Going by the table, there are 48 units affected by this recall.

Ford Australia will contact owners of the recalled vehicles, advising them to contact their local dealer to arrange the rectification of the lower control arm.

Customers can contact the company's customer helpline on 1800 503 672 for more information.
