Kitted out with a new colourful disguise for the front and rear end, the Volkswagen T-Cross has been teased and detailed ahead of its debut in the not-too-distant future.
According to the company, the T-Cross is more "practical and cooler" than the T-Roc, which is "more compact". Despite dimensions which aren't too far apart, Volkswagen bases the T-Cross on the Polo's MQB-A0 underpinnings, while the T-Roc if more closely related to the Golf's MQB-A component set.
To emphasise just how "cool" the T-Cross is, it will be available in 12 exterior colours, with one two-tone option, and the interior can specified with a two-tone dashboard.
At launch the T-Cross will be available with three turbocharged petrol engines (70kW, 85kW, and 110kW), and one turbo-diesel (70kW). The T-Cross comes fitted with front-wheel drive, and can be had with wheels up to 18 inches in diameter.
The car's rear seats be slid forwards and backwards by up to 15 centimetres. Boot space is rated at between 385 to 455 litres depending on the position of the rear seats. With the rear seats folded down cargo carrying capacity grows to 1281 litres.
Available features in the T-Cross include a completely digital instrumentation display, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, LED headlamps, wireless smartphone charging, keyless entry, and a 300W Beats sound system with a subwoofer.
Standard safety technology includes front assist monitoring, and lane keeping assistance. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, city emergency braking with pedestrian monitoring, and pre-crash safety adjustments are available on high-spec models or as an option.
The T-Cross will be sold in Europe, China, and South America.
