Isle of Man TT average speed record toppled – Video

Hold on tight, it's going to be a wild ride

When it comes to crazy sporting events, the Isle of Man TT is among the craziest. Held on public roads around the Isle of Man, it pits the world's best motorcyclists against changeable roads with no run-off and hardly any safety barriers. Deaths are common, an accepted risk with the event.

Last weekend, Dean Harrison became the first rider average more than 134mph (216km/h) on a lap around the 60.7km course.

Suffice to say, that's properly fast – fast enough for him to complete the course in 16 minutes 50.384 seconds. He didn't actually win the race though, with Michael Dunlop taking advantage of Harrison's mechanical woes to win the four-lap event.

We realise this isn't a car story, but it's incredible footage, and something any motorsport fan should appreciate. Check out the video, and hold on tight.

If four wheels are more your speed, well, maybe this is for you instead.
