2015-17 Mazda CX-3 Diesel recalled
Over-run condition could spell bad news for owners
Mazda has recalled the 2015-2017 CX-3 Diesel, over concerns about the engine's behaviour when run at high revs in Neutral or Park.
According to the company, operating the engine at high revs in Park or Neutral could make the engine draw in residual oil accumulated in the engine intake.
If this happens, Mazda says the engine could go into its "over-run condition", running uncontrollably at high revs until it's damaged or fails. This could pose a risk to the owner or other road users.
A total of 1627 crossovers sold between February 22, 2015 and November 24, 2017 are caught up in the campaign – a VIN list is attached here.
Mazda will contact affected customers, and advise them to contact a dealer for a revised engine calibration. Concerned owners can call 1800 034 411 for more information.
