Volkswagen recalls 2011/12 Golf, Passat and CC
840 vehicles affected
Volkswagen has recalled the 2011/12 Passat, Golf and CC over concerns about an overheating starter motor relay.
According to the company, a bent or broken spring could obstruct the clearance of the spindle in the starter motor relay. This could cause a blockage, creating a constant current supply to the starter motor relay and, in turn, causing it to overheat.
If it overheats, owners could notice scorch marks around the affected area. There's also a risk of fire.
A total of 840 vehicles are included in the recall. A VIN list is attached here.
Volkswagen will contact affected owners by mail, and tell them to contact their nearest dealer for a fix. Concerned owners can also contact 1800 607 822 for more information.
