Ford Ranger, Econovan, Courier added to Takata recall

Over 92,000 vehicles affected

Ford has recalled the 2004-06 Courier, 2004-05 Econovan and 2006-11 Ranger as part of the ongoing Takata airbag campaign.

According to the Ford, all the vehicles involved in the recall are fitted with the less dangerous 'Beta' inflators.

If affected vehicles are involved in an accident and the airbag is activated, the driver and passenger inflators could rupture, causing metal fragments to shoot into the cabin. Occupants are at risk of serious injury, even death if the fault occurs.

A total of 92,458 vehicles are involved in the recall: 21,795 Couriers, 1300 Econovans and 69,363 Rangers. A VIN list for each model line is attached to its name.

Ford will contact affected owners by mail, and advise them to contact their nearest dealership for a free fix. Concerned owners can also call 13 FORD (13 3673) for more information.
