Set to become the new flagship in the Korean brand's line-up, the Y400 - which is still to be given a showroom name - will sport styling elements inspired by the LIV-2 concept revealed at last year's Paris motor show.
According to SsangYong, the Y400 will be offered with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, "excellent" driving dynamics on- and off-road, competitive towing capacity, and "great" NVH (noise, vibration harshness) levels.
Underneath the bold exterior will be a 'Quad-Frame' platform which utilises 1.5Gpa giga-steel (a world-first), while also featuring extensive use of high-strength steel to improve body strength while reducing weight.
The new model will go on sale in Korea before mid-year, before launching globally by the end of 2017.
