2017 BMW 6 Series M Sport earns ‘Limited Edition’ status
Australian debut under consideration
BMW’s flagship grand touring coupe, the BMW 6 Series has been given a spruce up with the introduction of the M Sport Limited Edition available across the range: 6 Series Coupe, Convertible and the four-door Gran Coupe.
While unchanged under the skin – the 6 Series is available with a six-cylinder petrol engine offering 235kW, a V8 petrol engine with 330kW, and a six cylinder diesel engine with 230kW, all mated to a standard eight-speed Steptronic Sports transmission – the 2017 BMW 6 Series M Sport Limited Edition scores some subtle exterior and interior updates, unique to the range.
Outside, BMW has introduced a new metallic colour, Sonic Speed Blue, available for the first time in 2017.
The range sits on newly designed 20-inch M light alloy wheels in bi-colour finish with M specific double-spoke design. Completing the exterior look are carbon-fibre mirror caps.
Inside, the Limited Edition gets a unique to the range Black/Fjord blue colour scheme, most noticeable on the Merino leather seats and floor mats.
Special “M Sport Limited Edition” badging adorns the door sills while carbon-fibre trim abounds, including on the gear selector.
Australia
The 6 Series M Sport Limited Edition will be available in Europe from 2017.
As for local hopes, BMW Australia communications manager Lenore Fletcher told CarAdvice this week the company is aiming to get a small number of the limited-edition model to our shores, but specific numbers are still to be determined.
