Peak power comes in between 5500-6000rpm while maximum torque is available from 2500-4500rpm.
Claimed fuel consumption is 8.4L/100km/h on the combined cycle, 0.1 litres more than its more practical twin.
Sending power to the ground is Mercedes-AMG’s performance-oriented 4Matic all-wheel drive system that is rear-biased (31/69 split), channeled through the company’s nine-speed automatic transmission.
Mercedes-AMG has reworked the transmission’s software to deliver shorter shift times, while the driver has the option to take full control by selecting manual mode on the centre console using the standard-fit steering-mounted paddle shifters.
The transmission will also stay in the selected gear and will not automatically shift up when the engine speed reaches the limit.
Mercedes-AMG claims the same 4.9-second sprint from 0-100km/h as the GLC43 wagon, on its way to an electronically-governed top speed of 250km/h.
Five driving modes can be selected through the AMG Dynamic Select system; Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual, allowing the GLC 43 Coupe to adapt to the driver’s preferences and the conditions.
Distinguishing the GLC43 Coupe from its more pedestrian siblings include 19-inch AMG alloy wheels - which are 235/55 at the front and 255/50 at the rear - along with the company’s diamond radiator grille, large air intakes, sportier front and rear bumpers, chrome and high-gloss black highlights, rear lip spoiler and bifurcated tailpipes.
Larger alloy wheels with different designs are optional, the largest being 21 inches in diameter.
Inside, the sports seats are trimmed in Artico artificial leather and Dinamica microfibre, while other features include an AMG instrument cluster and a multifunction flat-bottomed sports steering wheel with contrasting red stitching.
Despite its performance potential, the GLC 43 Coupe offers a 491-litre boot which expands to 1400 litres with the rear seats folded.
The second row also features a 40/20/40 split, while the company says entrance height, shoulder room, elbow room and legroom are all identical to the GLC wagon - further enhancing its practicality.
While the GLC43 wagon is scheduled to launch locally in December, the GLC43 Coupe is only confirmed for a release during the fourth quarter - making it a likely starter alongside the wagon version in December.
Final pricing and specifications will be released closer to the launch date.
