2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe priced from $77,100 – UPDATE

Update: In addition to the information below, Mercedes-Benz has now confirmed the GLC Coupe is available to order now ahead of a scheduled November 'on sale' date.

Australian pricing and specifications for the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe have been revealed ahead of its local arrival in November.

The standard four-cylinder GLC Coupe range kicks off at $77,100 plus on-road costs for the 220d and tops out at $82,100 for the 250d. By comparison, the cheapest BMW X4 starts at $70,815 plus on-road costs.

This represents a near $12,000 jump over the equivalent GLC wagon, which starts at $65,990 before on-roads.

This represents a higher price premium than the sub-10 per cent increase that was forecast earlier this year.

However, the GLC Coupe comes equipped with the AMG Line exterior and interior package as standard, which is a $2685 option on its wagon sibling.

Standard kit on all GLC Coupe variants include the aforementioned AMG Line exterior and interior package, along with 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera system, a nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Starting at $77,100 plus on-roads, the GLC220d Coupe features Artico artificial leather upholstery, power tailgate, LED headlights with LED daytime-running lights, diamond grille with chrome studs, dynamic body control and Garmin Map Pilot satellite navigation. Power comes from a 2.1-litre turbo-diesel producing 125kW of power and 400Nm of torque.

Stepping up to the GLC250 ($80,100) and GLC250d ($82,100) Coupes adds real leather upholstery, keyless entry, and the driver assistance package - which includes adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. At the heart of the 250 is a 155kW/350Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol while a higher output 150kW/500Nm 2.1-litre diesel powers the 250d.

No doubt there will be a range of optional equipment and option packages to further enhance the GLC Coupe's safety, styling and technology suite, like the rest of the Mercedes-Benz range.

A hotter twin-turbo-six AMG GLC43 variant is also due for a Q4 release, however final pricing and specifications for that model are likely to be released closer to the launch date.

Mid-next year will see the launch of the full-fat twin-turbo V8-powered AMG GLC63 Coupe and a GLC350d twin-turbo six-cylinder diesel variant, bringing the total number of models to six.
