Affecting vehicles built between March 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008, the recall centres on concerns that parts of the restraint system may fail due to internal components becoming corroded.

As a result, vital parts such as the airbags may be deactivated. According to Mercedes-Benz, if this is the case, the SRS warning lamp will light up. Additionally, other components in the restraint system may be triggered spontaneously, potentially resulting in accident and/or injury.

As many as 7833 examples of the C-Class could be at risk.

Mercedes-Benz has issued three recalls in as many weeks, with a number of vehicles from the 2014 W205 series C-Class range being called back due to faulty battery wiring as well as the 2015 Sprinter being recalled to amend an issue with its fuel injector lines.

Mercedes-Benz will contact owners via mail.
