An all-new version of the only light wagon on the market, the Skoda Fabia Wagon, has been spotted in production-ready guise with minimal camouflage.

The more practical iteration of the recently unveiled Skoda Fabia city hatch was caught on the road in its home country, with the Czech brand disguising some key elements of the eye-catching green wagon with body-coloured tape rather than the traditional camouflage covering.

Hidden bits include the finer elements of the headlight clusters, while the sharp swage line that runs the length of the side of the car is also moulded over with the green tape.

The rear takes the visual trickery to a different level, with what appears to be a set of decals over the car's actual tail-lights as a means of disguising the shape and size of the rear clusters. What isn't hidden, though, are the twin lip spoilers that sit on and above the boot lid.

The wagon does away with the tall-box styling of the current car, and in hatch guise it is 90mm wider and 30mm lower than before. We'd expect the new wagon to mirror those dimensions, and it appears slightly longer at the back than the existing model. The wagon's boot is also tipped to grow from the 480-litre capacity of the outgoing model.

As we have reported in the past, the new Fabia will share infotainment and interior bits with the updated Volkswagen Polo, and in all probability also use a 1.2-litre petrol turbocharged four-cylinder engine in varied states of tune. In the Polo, outputs of 66kW and 81kW are available.

CarAdvice has contacted Skoda Australia for comment on the spy images, and to assess whether the brand will offer the wagon version of the new Fabia this time around. If the Czech brand does bring it, we'd expect both the Fabia hatch and wagon to be on sale in Australia mid to late 2015.
