Ferrari first in the market with Apple CarPlay media system
The Ferrari FF will be the first car in the world to be offered with the new Apple CarPlay in-car media interface.
Announced at the Geneva motor show, the tie-up between Apple and Ferrari will see the new media system available to order “from tomorrow”.
The Apple CarPlay interface is designed to essentially offer an iPhone-like experience on the dashboard of the car, and Ferrari says the system offer owners a "smarter, safer and more fun way to use iPhone in the car". The CarPlay system can be used via a touchscreen or by using Siri voice control.
Mercedes-Benz and Volvo also showed vehicles to be equipped with the tech, but Ferrari maintains it is first to market with the new system, which will likely be rolled out across a broad range of makes in the coming years.
"These two strong brands are today pleased to announce the integration of Apple CarPlay in the FF," said Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo. "We’re the first in the world to commercialise this."
There's no word yet from Ferrari Australia on rollout plans for the CarPlay system locally.
