Following a series of deceptive teaser images, Acura - Honda's luxury brand in the US - has now given an official name to the prototype which is expected to make its debut at the New York International Auto Show.
The Acura ZDX prototype has been cleverly described by Honda as a "four-door sport coupe" which on first impressions would suggest a more affordable alternative to the raft of four-door premium coupes which are set to hit the market.
Furthermore, the teaser images do nothing to contradict this claim, using light and shadows to hide the true form and size of the car.
“The ZDX prototype is unlike anything you have ever seen before from Acura,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president, Acura sales. “The prototype showcases a new level of luxury, style and refinement for Acura and speaks volumes towards our commitment to advancing the brand.”
Although inside sources are adamant this is indeed an X6-like SUV, aimed at cutting in on BMW's niche territory.
Either way, all will be confirmed on April 8 when the Acura ZDX makes its debut in concept form at the New York International Auto Show.
