Ford has announced that Ford Australia designer Peter Jones will join Lincoln as interior design manager in June, which will see him team up with Australian Max Wolff who is Lincoln’s head of design.
The move means Lincoln has now recruited from both Ford and Holden, with Wolff a former Lion badge designer and, like Jones, a graduate of Monash University.
Jones also had a spell with Holden before joining Ford in 2005 and working as the lead exterior design o the FG Ford Falcon Ute that launched in 2008.
His more recent project was another ute, the Ford Ranger on which he operated as interior design manager.
Ford’s design director for the Asia, Pacific and Africa region, Christopher Svensson, said Jones’s move to Lincoln was further proof of Australia’s automotive talent pool.
“Peter’s appointment not only proves that Australian know-how is highly regards within the Ford Motor Company but also shows that highly accomplished Australian university graduates can confidently compete on the global automotive stage,” said Svensson.
Jones moves to Detroit, Michigan, just as he's embarked on a long-held ambition to restore a 1970s Ford XA Falcon.
