The car is based on the entry-level Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet and gets the same 3.6-litre flat six engine delivering 254kW of power. This model will not be about outright performance though, it's more of a special edition created for collectors and for those who want a bit more exclusivity out of the standard 911.
On the outside, it features a black paint job, of course, and is garnished in 911 Turbo 19-inch darkened wheels. The inside is also treated to the 'Black' theme and gets a black steering wheel, specially painted black centre console and a Black Edition number plaque on the glove box lid.
Overall, it seems like rather timid limited edition compared to the Mercedes-Benz Black Series range. At least it won't cost a packet over the standard models though. Prices will start at the same entry-level cost as the standard Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet range - $223,000 and $245,300 respectively.
If exclusivity is a high priority to you, then you better be quick, only 1,911 of the Porsche 911 Black Editions will ever be made.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in April this year.
