Toyota GR Supra 35th Anniversary Special Edition: Japan-only sports car only available through lottery system
Toyota celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Supra with a special addition for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), which is only up for grabs via a lottery system.
It's the 35th birthday of the Toyota Supra and to celebrate the car maker has unveiled a special-edition model – built to pay homage to the Supra's history as a standalone model, as the first two generations were known as the Celica Supra and Celica XX.
Two versions of the modern GR Supra 35th Anniversary Special Edition will be manufactured, both fitted with minor extras. The six-cylinder, range-topping RZ is only available in Matte Storm Grey Metallic, and with just 35 examples being produced, buyers will have to fight for one via a lottery system.
For some extra coin over a standard GR Supra, upgrades include bright red leather seats, matching red inserts on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, a carbon-fibre plate running along the passenger-side dashboard, showing a GR Supra 35th Anniversary badge. A wireless charging pad, which sits just beyond the gear selector, has also been added.
In the case of the four-cylinder SZ-R version, there are five colour options to choose from, all of which are complemented by matte black mirror caps, and again, limited to just 35 examples in total.
The wheels for both versions of the 35th Anniversary Special Edition measure 19 inches in diameter, are painted matte black, and hide larger red-painted brake callipers.
The Toyota GR Supra RZ 35th Anniversary Special Edition carries a price tag of almost $AU100,000, while the SZ-R is estimated to cost around $AU83,000.
