Porsche 911 GT2 RS gains Clubsport Package option
How to make a race-ready 911 even race-readier, in three easy steps.
Porsche has added a new Clubsport Package to the GT2 RS options list, further burnishing its track-ready nature.
The headline addition is a new, FIA-approved steel roll cage where the seats are fitted to more mundane Porsche 911 variants. It's bolted into the chassis behind the front seats, and works with an FIA-approved fire extinguisher and six-point harnesses to make the car more race-friendly.
UPDATE: The Clubsport Package has been offered on the GT2 RS for some time now. In Australia, the steel roll cage is offered as part of the Weissach Pack, with owners able to opt (and pay) for the lighter titanium unit as an extra.
There's support for a battery cut-out switch and front roll cage, too, but you'll need to go digging through the Porsche Motorsport catalogue to actually make use of them.
Buyers keen to really make the most of their GT2 are actually able to combine the Clubsport and Weissach packages, the latter of which sheds 30kg thanks (in part) to a tasty set of magnesium wheels.
Where the Weissach Package usually brings a titanium roll cage, the FIA-approved steel one in the Clubsport Package remains when both boxes are ticked.
What the Clubsport Package doesn't do is add any power. Porsche hasn't fiddled with the 515kW and 750Nm on offer from the car's twin-turbo flat-six, capable of pushing the car to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds, and onto 200km/h in just 8.3 seconds.
Flat out, you'll be doing 340km/h. Down Under, the base car carries a $645,400 price before on-road costs.
