New Infiniti QX80 revealed

Infiniti has called in the cosmetic surgeons to work their magic on the QX80 SUV. 

Not previously known for its handsome looks, the Nissan Patrol-based Infiniti full-sized SUV has had facelift. 

The Japanese marque claims the QX80 has been extensively redesigned with new headlights, front bumper, grille and bonnet and an overall squarer more angular look. 

Infiniti has enlarged the nose of the QX80 by extending the bonnet 90mm and raising it 20mm, while the grille is much bigger in all directions. 

While the shoulders of the vehicle run higher than before which has pulled up the side air vents and front quarter panels and the side steps have been extended out. 

At the rear the QX80 has copped a fresh tailgate, thinner LED tailights, chrome bar and rear bumper and reworked cargo door. 

Inside the cabin is decked out in leather accented features and upholstery including a new shift knob and wood-grain interior touches. 

The Infiniti QX80 is priced from $110,900 before on-road costs, which is the same price as the previous model. 

Power for the big SUV comes from a 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine producing 298kW and 560Nm and is matched to a seven-speed automatic transmission that drive all four wheels.  

Riding on massive 22-inch alloy-wheels the QX80 has a braked towing capacity of 3500kg, and its fuel use is rated at a claimed 14.5L/100km combined but its urban claimed fuel use figures – where it is most likely to be driven - are scary at 20.9L/100km. 

The new Infiniti QX80 will go on sale locally this March.
