Ford Ranger bull-bar recalled for faulty bolts
Ford Australia has announced a recall on the steel bull-bar available with the outgoing ‘PX’ Ranger utes, ahead of the coming debut for its newly updated 2016 PX MkII line-up.
More to the point, the recall is specific to the mounting bolts of the Ford Genuine Accessory steel bull-bar, which joined an existing alloy bar on the Ranger’s Genuine Accessories options list early in 2014.
According to Ford Australia’s recall notice, there is a risk that the bull-bar’s four mounting bolts “may not meet specification”, potentially leading to fractures that could see the bar come away from the vehicle.
Ford says the recall affects 597 Ranger models equipped with the bull-bar, fitted either before delivery or as an after-sales dealer fit.
The company confirms that it has safely replaced one set of affected bolts, the only reported case so far.
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail, however concerned owners can also contact Ford’s Customer Relationship Centre at 1800 503 672.
