Adam Levine drives the Porsche Mission E concept – Video
Maroon 5 frontman samples electric sports car concept in Los Angeles
Adam Levine may be known best as the lead singer of Maroon 5, but he's also quite the Porsche fan.
In a new video published by the German sports car maker, the singer/songwriter steps out of his classic black 356 Speedster for a spin in the Mission E concept to see if it addresses his feeling that electric vehicles "don't have a soul".
The new clip comes after Porsche ambassador and former Formula 1 driver, Mark Webber, took a Mission E prototype for a drive at the company's test track in Weissach, Germany.
Set to go into production sometime next year, the Porsche Mission E will be the company's first all-electric vehicle. While specifications of the production car are yet to be disclosed, we can use the figures claimed by the concept version Levine drove as a guide.
Porsche claims the Mission E concept develops more than 440kW of power from its dual-electric motor setup – similar to the one used in the company's 919 Hybrid Le Mans race car.
According to the company, the Mission E can sprint from 0-100km/h "in under 3.5 seconds", and can be recharged to 80 per cent capacity in around 15 minutes using an 800V fast-charge system.
But does it have a soul? Watch the video to find out!
