2021 Isuzu D-Max prices rise by up to $10,900
The drive-away deal on the Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain has been dropped amid severe stock shortages, and prices have now risen to close to $70,000 drive-away in the biggest hike since the new model went on sale.
The 2021 Isuzu D-Max ute has undergone its biggest price rise since the new model went on sale.
Without warning, the top-of-the-range Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain ute has gone up from $59,990 drive-away nationally, to between $68,500 and $70,900 drive-away depending on stamp duty in different states and territories (examples of which are pictured below).
While Isuzu says it will honour the previous $59,990 drive-away deals on vehicles ordered before the price hike earlier this month, it means anyone who orders a vehicle today will pay up to $10,900 more for the exact same vehicle.
Dealers are not able to offer the previous drive-away price because the offer was funded by Isuzu Ute Australia rather than individual showrooms. In other words, the dealer’s invoice cost has gone up, and matching the previous drive-away price would mean selling the vehicle at a loss.
Data compiled by Drive shows the Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain ute is up to $10,900 more expensive than its drive-away price for the first half of this year, and up to $11,900 dearer than its drive-away price when the new model went on sale this time last year.
Isuzu Ute Australia insists it is not capitalising on the higher than expected demand and limited supply – and has instead shifted its drive-away discount offer to the newly-released Isuzu MU-X LS-T four-wheel-drive wagon.
However, the drive-away offer on the Isuzu MU-X LS-T 4x4 wagon (pictured above) has its own controversy, with at least two lesser equipped models costing more than the flagship.
In response to a question about the reason behind the sharp price rises of the Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain, the company said it removed the $59,990 drive-away deal due to “the current extended delivery lead times and future model-year transition.”
It is unclear what Isuzu means when it refers to a “model-year transition,” however it is understood there are no equipment changes.
“All orders … placed prior to the start of August will be protected at the previous $59,990 drive-away price,” the statement continued, before adding that more price changes may be announced in September 2021.
