2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA, A-Class and GLB recalled

A manufacturing fault could cause a fuel leak in the engine bay of 4000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 4043 examples of its 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA, A-Class and GLB models, citing a manufacturing defect in each model's fuel lines.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the affected CLA sedan, A-Class hatchback and GLB SUVs were delivered to Australian customers in 2020.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel feed hose may become chafed and could cause a fuel leak in the engine compartment. This may result in a vehicle fire.

"A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders."
