2019 Nissan Qashqai gets Apple CarPlay, Android Auto in Europe, not for Oz
New infotainment system brings smartphone mirroring, complements addition of new turbocharged petrol option.
Nissan Europe has announced further details of its upgraded Qashqai range for 2019, headlined by a new turbocharged petrol engine and a new infotainment system.
We heard about the new 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine a fortnight ago, but the company's latest announcement confirms the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring for the first time, thanks to a new infotainment system.
Dubbed 'NissanConnect', the "all-new" infotainment unit offers the aforementioned technologies along with over-the-air (OTA) map and software updates.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now included standard on all European-market Qashqai trim levels, bar the base 'Visia' grade.
There's also real-time traffic updates courtesy of TomTom Traffic Premium, while a new 'Door-to-Door Navigation' smartphone app brings further integration between the infotainment unit and the driver's personal device.
Further to the upgrades to the infotainment system, the 2019 Qashqai also gets a new driver display nestled between the dials which has been 'redesigned' to show more information when receiving text messages or phone calls, along with turn-by-turn route guidance.
