Hyundai i30 Fastback N here in 2019
Third member of N performance family to be revealed later this year.
Hyundai Australia has confirmed it will offer the i30 Fastback N next year, shortly after the company's global division issued some teaser images of its newest N model in action.
Scheduled to be unveiled later this year, the i30 Fastback N is based on the i30 Fastback offered in Europe, combining the five-door coupe body with the performance-focused underpinnings of the i30 N hatchback.
In a new set of images, we can see the i30 Fastback N tackling the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany, where Hyundai's N division also has a technical centre.
The i30 Fastback N will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four as its hatchback sibling, though it's unclear whether it will be offered in one or two states of tune.
Regardless, the high-output 202kW/353Nm 'Performance' tune should definitely be offered, complete with a mechanical limited-slip differential and a six-speed manual transmission.
While the manual shifter will be the only option at launch, Hyundai has already confirmed an eight-speed DCT is in development, and scheduled for release in the i30 N hatch late in 2019 – we'd wager the Fastback N will offer it eventually, too.
